WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! If I could give it a 0 I would. An absolutely traumatic experience with my daughter. Initially I asked for a behavioural optometrist appointment. When I went there oblivious to the process, I thought the assessment was as a Behavioural Optometrist assessment. Little did I know it was an eye scan and consultation. I specifically asked for the cost over the phone and was advised around over 100 dollars for the BO assessment. The first optometrist(Kirsty) who was very snappy I was very unimpressed with her attitude(not child friendly at all), not sure why she is assessing an excited 6 year old and expecting her to follow all instructions like an adult. So she asked us to come in again only because she didn’t want to proceed with the consultation with my daughter because she was tired. It was after school so I agreed to come again. They called us in for another assessment with the behavioural optometrist. I asked the receptionist how much I would be charged and she quoted me around $99 roughly. She checked the item however I’m almost certain the receptionist would have known I was going to be charged roughly $300. I got there for the assessment. Sheila tested my daughter’s reflexes and did further testing. She told me there was an issue with her reflexes and she needs to see a chiro etc. My daughter struggled with reciting the names of letters and she was bothered by this and told her not to recite the sounds and say the letter. We had a discussion and she told me my daughter has missed stages of development in her brain and this why she is struggling at school. I went home devastated and concerned. She said much more but I don’t recall the whole conversation. It was a very long 3 hours and she claimed that I spent 60 minutes of this time in discussion. Which is completely untrue ! I went to the chiro believing every word she said. After I told the chiro what the behavioural optometrist said, mind you I went to the centre she recommended. The chiro looked at me in absolute shock, she could not believe that the optometrist had me worried about something that is easily corrected by 10 months of age. She checked her reflexes and she was fine. She made other condescending comments about her making up accusations that aren’t true particularly in an area she has little knowledge in, however because I was so relieved I was kind enough to call her and asked her to correct her mistake. She agreed that she was no expert in this area but still had the audacity to write the same accusations on the report. I hope anyone reading this never books an appointment with this clinic! All they’re after is your money. I genuinely thought she had the best interests of my daughter however she made many accusations based on minimal knowledge and already my daughter has improved in school. Sometimes you need to give it time. I was not notified of why she was being assessed initially, I had no idea it was a consultation. I found out later that she was going to see a behavioural optometrist. Her eye sight is perfectly fine, I was recommended to have a behavioural optometrist assessment by her school. I regret every minute. Save your time and money!!
